Life Story Interview

A simple, affordable way to capture a life story
Their story, in their own words.
This is a written record of a life story, captured through conversation. Over a series of interviews, we talk through the arc of someone's life — childhood, family, the decisions and turning points that shaped them. Every conversation is recorded, transcribed, and lightly edited for clarity and flow, then laid out as a question-and-answer script. Their words, in their own voice, exactly as they told it.
The finished piece is an A4 spiral-bound booklet — simple, readable, and built to last on a shelf rather than designed as a photobook.
No photography or design work is included; the focus is entirely on the story itself. Each family receives printed copies to share, along with the Word file so it can be revisited, added to, or reprinted in the future.

Two options, depending on how much time and depth you're after:
Essentials — NZD $980
-
Three separate 1.5-hour interview sessions
-
Edited transcript (typically 110–150 pages), laid out in Word
-
A draft sent to you or your family to read through and check for accuracy before printing
-
Four printed, spiral-bound copies to share
A solid, affordable record covering the major chapters of a life — childhood, family, career, key milestones.
Extended — NZD $1,200
-
Four separate 1.5-hour interview sessions
-
Edited transcript (typically 150–200 pages), laid out in Word
-
A draft sent to you or your family to read through and check for accuracy before printing
-
Four printed, spiral-bound copies to share
The extra session gives more room to slow down — to follow a story that needs more time, or return to something raised earlier.
Often it's this fourth conversation where the most surprising, personal material emerges.
Additional copies available at approximately $20–25 each, depending on length.
Choose this if: You want to preserve a life story while there's still time to ask — a parent, grandparent, or family member's memories captured in their own voice.
This service is also a meaningful way to prepare material for a eulogy or celebrant — a record to draw on, in the person's own words, when the time comes.
