Creativity sessions for seniors

Do you need help with an elderly relative? Time out to recharge?

I am a creative arts worker and writer.  I love working one-on-one
with the elderly, using my passion for the arts and life stories to
stimulate and inspire creativity.

I tailor the sessions to suit each person’s interests and capabilities.
Activities include water colour painting, collage, singing with the
ukulele, dance/movement to music and storytelling with puppets.
I bring art books to look at together and poems and short stories
to read aloud.  I also use my skills as a biographer to stimulate
memory and encourage reminiscing.

I have had experience as a caregiver in London and Auckland with a variety of conditions including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

I have a current driver’s licence, St John First Aid Certificate, police check and referees.  I charge $35 per hour (minimum two hours per session).

How the arts helps people with dementia and Alzheimer's

Optional extras:

Life story sessions: I ask questions and record memories for the family to keep.  These memories can also be transcribed and printed into a mini memoir photobook or developed into a full biography.

Photo sessions: I take candid shots and create a photobook for the family with or without accompanying quotes and memories.
